I have two accounts I regularly use in most of my social media outlets – one for work and one for personal interests. I found that I didn’t want to use either of these accounts for my studies at Curtin, as I wanted to feel free to express a lack of knowledge or explore ideas that I wouldn’t normally expose via either of those channels.
Now, even though my name might sound weird to a lot of Australians, it’s actually a very popular Arabic/Spanish name – which is where my parents come from. So, I’m happy to put down ‘Maha’ as my username for all the new accounts I created in preparation for the weeks ahead. (Actually, it’s funny when I am asked to be friends with the “other me” on social media. I guess the technology is not yet as sophisticated as I thought… but Google is getting there fast, if you ask me.
So my username (Maha @ Uni, or universitymaha) was quite easy to obtain – I used one or the other when one was not permitted or available. Hopefully, everything will run smoothly from here. I did have to compromise though… “maha student” or “student maha” was already taken in a few places, and for the sake of consistency and keeping sane, I chose the word “university”. Curtin is a university, right?
